About Youth Life Coaching
What is Life Coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative partnership between a qualified coach and an individual or group that supports the achievement of extraordinary results. This partnership is based on goals set by you.
Your coach sees and believes all the potential that you already have. Your coach will work with you to develop your strengths, working with you towards a transformation so you can become who you want to be and be where you want to be. Through the coaching process, you and your coach will focus on the skills and actions that are needed to successfully and effectively produce their personal results. You choose the focus for each coaching session.
If you have ever been faced with a problem or a personal issue which you know deep down you might have the answers to, but wanted someone to talk to to help you clear your mind, to sound off possibilities, to support and challenge you, then coaching could be for you. Your coach is there to listen and contribute observations and questions, as well as concepts and principles which can help you to generate possibilities, solutions and identifying actions.
There are three general steps to the coaching process. These are:
- Helping the coachee identify and assess what their particular needs are
- Developing an individualised plan with specific action steps, tasks and timelines
- Monitoring the coachee’s progress until s/he has reached her/his goals
What are the benefits of coaching?
Coaching can help you to experience new perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced problem-solving and decision-making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness and increased confidence. If you are committed to enhancing your personal effectiveness, you can expect to see increased results in productivity, personal satisfaction, and the achievement of personal goals.
Why do people work with a coach?
There are many reasons people want to work with coaches such as wanting to achieve a goal, overcome a challenge, improve their self-esteem, or develop life skills. Coaching is already widely used for these reasons in the areas of sports and business.
How is coaching delivered?
Coaching can take place via telephone and email, or in person at our office if the client lives in Adelaide, South Australia. There are usually 4 coaching sessions per month of 1 hour duration each. Session times are flexible and can be negotiated. All phone/call charges are included in the cost of the session, wherever you are in the world.
The initial coaching session will be to assess your current opportunities and challenges, define the scope of the relationship, identify priorities for action and establish specific desired outcomes. You choose the focus for each coaching session.
Between sessions, you may be asked to complete tasks that support achievement of your personal goals. You can take on as much between-session tasks as you like. The duration of the coaching program will vary depending on your personal needs and choices.
